Week 2 Posting - Topologies

Network topologies are different way that Wi-Fi and networks connect, one thing that I could never understand is how wireless mesh can be counted as a mesh network. Devices such as Google Wi-Fi relate to a single port to the WAN or modem, however they are being sold as mesh, the goal of mesh is to maintain stability by providing multiple exits to a network if one were to go down. The mesh that Google sells is false advertising in my eyes because if the main hub gets disconnected that the whole network will not be able to reach outside the network. In the real world if each AP had a direct line to a switch or multiple switches and connected to two routers that would be a proper “mesh” network. A hub and spoke with AP on the end connected is a mesh and anything less should not be labeled as such.
