Week 3 Posting - Cables
Cat versions are used to tell what a cable can push carry. From CAT 3 to now CAT 7 each cable variation increases either the distance or speed. From CAT 5e and onward there has been a version of cable that has also had shielded cables, this is used when running close to electrical wires or in super warm or cold climates such as near a heater and AC. To terminate these cables, they are about the same with the difference being the gel or aluminum. When using these cables it is crucial to not make to tight of a turn. In my experience it is best to have other people do this because it does get messy. Additional rj45 ends should be used as well. What is Cat7 - and why you don’t need it. (cablematters.com)
